2010 Lupine Festival

The 9th annual Lupine Festival for Deer Isle and Stonington has been set for June 18, 19 & 20, 2010.  Enjoy 3 days of garden tours, local foods, open studios, boat-plane-schooner trips, quilt show, craft fairs, kids activities, shops and restaurants, Cuban and Cabaret music, variety show, fields of lupine and more.  For more information call the Deer Isle-Stonington Chamber of Commerce at 348-6124.

The 2008 Blue Hill Fair - A Family Event

Tis the season for the Blue Hill Fair, a popular event for children and adults of all ages  This years fair will be going on from August 28 through September 1  Bring the entire family for fine entertainment, attractions and exhibits

LIVESTOCK AREA   Walk around and take a look at all the farm animals, llamas and alpacas.  Sit back in the grandstand, get yourself out of the hot sun, and get ready for some draft horse and oxen pulling competitions.  You will also find sheep dog competitions and animal shows when you visit the livestock area.

Visit the exhibition hall to see a broad range of crafts, vegetables, fruits and flowers grown by locals.

 

Entertainment this year features a country music show Flynnville Train on labor day.  Other stage shows at this years Blue Hill Fair include “Burn Permit”, a music show, Antique Tractor Pulling, Imperial Hell Drivers (a thrill show with some of the greatest stunt car drivers around), Rick Charette and the Bubble Gum Band, and, as always, the annual fireworks display.

Of course, any fair would not be a fair without the good food and rides!  Browse up and down the midway for hot dogs, sausages, cotton candy, candied apples and more and take a ride on one of the rides provided by Smokey’s Greater Shows.
